Public Notice Regarding Non-Flush Items in our Sewer System

Residents

Our Public Works Director is asking the public’s help to remember that the only things that should be going down the toilet are toilet paper and human waste.  Please spread the word to everyone you know in the City and remind them not to throw anything else, including wipes (even those that say they are flushable) into the toilet.

At the height of this pandemic, there is a concern of future scenarios where residents, potentially those who are sick, are restricted to their homes who could potentially be further exposed to health risks via sewage backups.

items considered non-flushable include wipes, paper towels, and personal hygiene products, even though it may say "flushable."

Anything we can do to prevent non flush items from entering the pipes is good work to be doing.
