  • Unmaintained Exterior of Structures - Addressing deteriorated or unsafe building exteriors

The Property Maintenance Ordinance (Ch. 750) provides authority and standards for enforcement. You can review a full summary of these standards in the Property Maintenance Ordinance Pamphlet.

Our primary objective is compliance, not punishment. Fines are a last resort. We encourage early communication and are committed to working with property owners to return to compliance.

The Ashland Housing Improvement Program (HIP) is run through the city to help repair and improve homes in Ashland. Some examples of past projects have been exterior painting, repairing stairs, demolishing failing structures, and other small exterior improvements. 

To qualify for the program, you must meet the following conditions:

  •  Located in the City of Ashland
  • A single family home
  • Owner occupied (no rentals)
  • Property taxes up to date. 

This is a grant program with no income qualifications and does not have to be repaid. Depending on the cost of the project, the applicant may have to help with payment.
