  • Lake Superior Water Intake - Phase I

    • Work Location: Lake Superior Waterfront in Ashland, WI
    • Estimated Start Date: May 1, 2025
    • Estimated Project Duration/Contract End Date*: 6 months - complete November 1, 2025
    • Engineering Consultant: Greeley & Hansen (Chicago, IL)
    • Contractor: Roen Salvage Company (Sheboygan, WI)
    • Description: Construction of a new 4,560-ft long, 24-inch water intake pipeline and submerged timber crib intake structure in Chequamegon Bay. Also includes a new pre-chlorination system for the new intake. The existing intake pipeline will be repurposed as a secondary and backup raw water supply.

  • Ellis Avenue / State Hwy 13 Reconstruction

    • Work Location: Ellis Avenue (State Hwy 13) from US Hwy 2 to Old Airport Rd (City Limits)
    • Estimated Start Date: April 1, 2025
    • Estimated Project Duration/Contract End Date*: 6 months - complete November 1, 2025
    • Engineering Consultant: Short, Elliot, Hendrickson (Rice Lake, WI)
    • Contractor: A-1 Excavating (Bloomer, WI)
    • DescriptionTwo lanes of traffic will be removed to provide two-way left hand turn lane to improve safety and enhance traffic flow. A bike lane will be added in both directions. Replacement of curb ramps, trail crossing, & some sidewalks. Also replacing pavement, pavement base, curb & gutter, storm sewer system, and the water main (originally installed in 1888). There are roughly 20 private lead service laterals (also known as LSL's) being replaced to help eliminate the exposure of drinking water to lead plumbing.

      • Special assessments were approved by the City Council and residents have received notification of such charges.

  • Turner Road Lift Station Improvement

    • Work Location: 120 Turner Road - City Owned Sewage Pumping Station
    • Estimated Start Date: September 15th (Weather Permitting)
    • Estimated Project Duration/Contract End Date*: October 1, 2025
    • Contractor: Ritola Inc.
    • DescriptionUpgrades to structure and pumps provided sewer collection services to Prentice Heights, Junction Road, Bayview Lane, and Victoria Lane.
    • Additional Funding Sources:

  • East End Community Park Warming House

    • Work Location: East End Community Park
    • Estimated Start Date: July 15, 2025
    • Estimated Project Duration/Contract End Date*: Complete by Dec 1
    • Engineering Consultant: City of Ashland Parks Division
    • Contractor: City of Ashland Parks Division
    • DescriptionInstallation of replacement bathroom & warming house building.
    • Additional Funding Sources:

  • 2025/2026 Lead Service Line Replacements (MORE TO BE COMPLETED IN 2026)

    • Work Location: Various locations throughout the City including Ellis Ave, Chapple Ave, Willis Ave, Prentice Ave, & 13th Ave E.
    • Estimated Start Date: May 2025
    • Estimated Project End Date*: First round of replacements scheduled for 2025 have been completed. The second round of replacements are scheduled to be completed by December 2026.
    • Engineering Consultant: City of Ashland Engineering Division
    • Contractor: Ritola, Inc (Mason, WI)
    • DescriptionReplacement of public and private lead service laterals at 92 locations throughout the City to help eliminate the exposure of drinking water to lead plumbing. Residents included in this project have already been contacted, and should contact Utility Engineer Madison Krzciok with the City of Ashland Engineering Division of Public Works.
